Independent carpet producer Whitestone Weavers offers discerning consumers a double whammy with the re-launch of a flagship Best-of-British range and the introduction of its first ever collection of range of MacFelt carpet underlay.
Both premium, tried-and-trusted products, the new Whitestone lines combine quality with reassuring credentials: the re-coloured Durham Twist collection will appeal to consumers who want to ‘Buy British’ while those looking for a natural, environmentally sound underlay will find it with the brand new MacFelt range.
The company’s hugely successful Durham Twist range – sold under the Hugh Mackay badge and available in 40oz, 50oz and 60oz weights – has been re-coloured and now boasts a 40-strong colour palette, double the previous offer.
As well as a strong bank of neutrals, the new-look collection provides a strong colour offer with contemporary shades of amethyst, duck egg blue, vivid greens and rich morello.
Said Phil Hartley, sales director for Whitestone Weavers: “Durham Twist is among Whitestone’s flagship collections thanks to its strong British provenance. Made in Yorkshire, using British wool, it is a proven quality at a competitive price point.”
Durham Twist is available in 4m and 5m widths and made from 80% British wool and 20% nylon blend.
Brand new to the Whitestone portfolio but offering a traditional favourite to the consumer is the company’s new MacFelt brand of underlay.
Made using recycled material from carpet manufacturers, the MacFelt offer comprises MacFelt 33, MacFelt 42 and MacFelt Combi, the latter with a crumb rubber backing made from old car tyres.
Said Phil Hartley: “Our new underlay range has excellent environmental credentials. As well as being made from recycled materials, the felt itself is a very traditional, needled fibre product made from natural wool, cotton, jute and hair.
“This type of more natural underlay is coming back in to favour, not only with traditionalists but among consumers looking for a product that offers the
re-use of resources and a natural content. It also works especially well with wool and jute-backed products.”
